I wrote a published article a year ago for StyleList Canada, now Huff Post Canada Style and it was about "Trends Women Love But Men Hate". I went out to the streets to interview some men and they were randomly selected. Nothing was staged or planned. I simply walked up to some gentlemen who were minding their business and we had an amazing time talking about women's fashion. I have to admit they were so nice and genuinely into it. Hahaha, it is so cute to hear men trying to describe women's outfits because they actually don't know what they are called. That on its own was interesting. I got a lot of, "There is this thing i see so many women wearing". Thing??? Hahaha.
Amongst the men i interviewed, was a crew member getting his boat ready for some guests waiting to board, a wedding photographer who was actually shooting at a wedding photo session outdoor, a couple of guys sitting on a bench talking, a student rehearsing a paper with his classmate and a guy hanging out with his girlfriend to mention a few.
I had with me, a book that i scribbled down what trends they didn't like on and i got a huge amount of dislike for high waisted pants and shorts. It was pretty interesting and surprising to know considering the amount of young girls, women of all ages from all walks of life who actually love wearing them....with confidence. I personally do like them a lot. I find them to be so flattering, chic, classy and versatile. The interview was all in good fun and just part of fashion research.
Because it is perfectly okay to be you and to wear what makes you feel more you, confident and beautiful, i say by all means wear what you want. Keep rocking those high waisted pants and shorts like no other.
Truth be told, i was really feeling these pants i decided on the spot to style it from Business to Business Casual and then to Casual using key accessories. I really need to come up with a more colorful business look and actually, i already have and will be sharing soon!
*Sharing colors that make me smile on the next post. Do stop by for some happy hour, will you :)
BUSINESS LOOK: HIGH WAISTED PANTS x BLAZER
BUSINESS CASUAL LOOK: High Waisted Pants x Buttoned down Top
Business casual doesn't always have to mean pairing a blazer with casual bottoms but dressing down an otherwise business look. Here, i took the blazer off to show a more relaxed yet somewhat formal look. I believe a tucked in top gives you a more polished and clean look.
CASUAL LOOK: High waisted Pants x Tie Waist Top
It was the same top i had tucked into my pants in previous looks whole time. To look casual, i tied the top over my pants, wore a pair of flats and finished the look with a purple hat.
Thank you all for stopping by. Now you may share your thoughts.
