When I was invited to attend the sneak peak event of "Through The Garden Gate", I honestly didn't know what to expect because i had never been... or even heard about it. I was excited for sure because who doesn't want to escape reality for a minute to lose themselves in paradise.
It was such a well organized and fun tour. We were asked to meet at The Plant World on Eglinton Avenue West where there was free parking for all and from there we got on the tour bus to see the secret gardens. It was a beautiful hot summer day so you know the A/C on the bus was running overtime. Nice thing was, we were well fed, hydrated and taken care of by the lovely team from The Botanical Garden. We made it to The Kingsway area where it all took place and the first stop was a lady's home. So before I go into any more details, I would give you a breakdown of why i would to do this tour all over again. While there are so many reasons, i decided to round it up to three.
It Is Something New, Something Different
The actual gardens were in people's homes. Yes, these are real people with real homes and real gardens. The lovely folks were so kind enough to take their time to meet us at the gates/entrances/driveways of their homes, told us a bit about themselves and their homes then led us through the side entrance to the back to see the beautiful gardens they have going on. Every single one of them had a beautiful story to tell.
They were all so welcoming, really sweet and happy to share and answer questions about all the fascinating stories about their beautiful homes.
Inspiring Use Of Space
The beautiful and intelligent use of space in their backyards was so inspiring and gorgeous I got even more excited about summer. This were some of my favorites...
It is so easy to capture and see the real beauty of a flower through your lens which was one of the best parts for me. There were so many pretty flowers in every garden we visited and if i could name them all, it could go on forever so instead photos will be ideal for now. There was not one single flower i didn't see that i didn't fall in love with. Really charming home with the prettiest gardens, i recommend you do the tour too if you can. Special Thanks to Toronto Botanical Garden and the not to forget Angie of Angie's Pop who served us some of her delicious and very refreshing pops during the tour would be there in June to sell some. I liked them so much I had to have two. I had the Beet Apple ginger + Carrot flavor and then the Cucumber Chile + Lime flavor. Both were very good but i liked that the cucumber had a really nice kick to it!
