This is the thing about me, i get bored with my clothes after a pretty good while of wearing them. Mixing, matching, remixing again, and again, and i am done. Some i may have worn so many times on the blog i can hear you all saying, pleeeeaase not again. Others are just so tired they need to be burned. The cool thing about denim is, they are great potential DIY pieces that can be cut short, bleached, slashed, ripped or distressed, studded, laced and cuffed for some cool factor. One of the ways i try to get just another life out of my clothes, especially denims, is by wearing my DIY hat and just trying to find a way to add some chic factor to it. Hence a perfectly distressed DIY knee cap- Simple and chic.
What You Need:
1. An old pair of denim pants.
2. A blade or a pair of scissors.
3.Washable crayola.
4. A small flat board
Step 1: While wearing the denim pants, i marked where i wanted slashed on the knee caps.
Step 2: Slide the flat board from the waist down into the legs of the pants. It serves as a surface between the denim while cutting.
Step 3: Cut about 1.5 inches across the marked line on the knee caps.
Step 4: Wash in the washer and then dry it in the dryer just once.
Tips:
1. Try practicing with an old pair either from a thrift store or one you are willing to get rid of first before doing it on your favorite denim pants.
2. The smaller the cut the better because it only gets wider with time.
So of course this is what the pair of denim pants looked like before....

Hahaha, your picture where you point to the DIY version is amazing. I think distressing or bleaching denim is an awesome way to reinvent life into an old pair. That sweater though looks amazing!
