KAFTAN

KAFTAN
If you grew up in the tropics where i did, you would have worn a kaftan at least once. By the way we called it a "bubu" in Nigeria. Although in my case here, it could also be worn as a swimwear cover up but i decided to take mine to the streets.

Kaftans weren't my cup o'tea for the longest time when i was a teenager who was still trying to figure out her own style. Well, it became a very huge trend at some point and my cool friends thought it was cool enough to wear :). Soon enough, i started raiding my mom's closet because, ooh my gosh, she had gazillions of them in so many gorgeous styles. Well, she felt bad for me and needed me to stay out of her closet for a minute so she started buying me my very own kaftans. Yay! I also got a few made by tailors, and i literally lived in them. Oh yeah, they are absolutely very comfortable.

Now that i am on Turks and Caicos Island, i have been exploring some  resort pieces as you already know. Some have taken me way back home and this kaftan is one. Love the vibrant color and prints. Everyone needs to have one packed up for their spring and summer vacations. While i would love to stay home dressed casually in it all the time, they are also chic enough to wear for a great day or evening out.

While my kaftan was via a local boutique on Turks and Caicos Islands, i am sure you will like these super cute kaftans just as much as i do:
